Map proof!

Just a brief note on behalf of the lads to post up a screen grab of the map tracker - the all important proof they made it - and say thanks for all your support and encouragement throughout the journey so far.

I've passed on your messages via Simon, who would like Jase's mum to know that they all took showers last night :-)

They're now leaving Casablanca and heading north again in a bid to be back in Spain tomorrow morning for the long ride home.

Well done lads. We're all incredibly proud of you.

  1. Thanks Melanie for the update, greatly appreciated. I guess my son is truly "weathered".

  2. You're welcome, Jane. I think weathered is by far the most polite term for the boys' current state :-)

They're heading straight for the port as they're not keen to spend the night in Africa - think people are a bit too interested in their bikes for them to be comfortable with leaving them unattended while they sleep.

I'll just be relieved when they get back past the French border again and I can be of some use to them if they need it.

  3. Thank you for the update Melanie, haven't they done well under such trying circumstances. I'm so proud.
I think they're skipping France on their way home though, sailing from northern Spain on Thursday.

Boys this site looks good, I've spoken with them and reception is open 24/7 and you can camp on grass.

  7. I rang Chris's mobile about 30 mins ago and he pressed the answer button just to show that they were stil motoring along. Not sure what the plan is but cant see that the ferrys run this late. There are a couple of camp sites near the port.

  9. There's a ferry due to leave in 3 hours and they're 90 miles away, plan seems to be to take it easy with a few stops, get the ferry and sleep it off in Spain... crazy boys. Don't know how they're doing it.

  10. see from the FRS schedule the last boat back to Tarifa left at midnight your/their time, so next boat is at 6 a.m. hope they can maybe take turns to get a couple of hours kip before dawn. Do we know for sure if they are going back through Spain to Santander? (jase's mum)

  11. Not sure what will happen with Tarifa ferry, they'll be back in Spain one way or other by the morning.
They are due to get the 3pm ferry on Thursday from Santander, arrives Plymouth 9.30am Friday....so they'll have 2 days to do c.600 miles up through Spain.

  13. Just got this text from Simon:

Just got back to the ferry terminal. Looks like a 2hr wait to ferry, so we'll camp around 8am. Ugh!

Have texted details of Rio Jara camp site onwards so hope they'll head straight there once they reach the other side.
